William D. Riley, 92, of Ridge Street, Cranston passed away March 15, 2021 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy I. ( Higham ) Riley, they had been married for 66 years.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Charles and Helen ( McVeigh ) Riley.
Mr. Riley was the proprietor of the former Flynn’s Variety Store in Providence which was a family owned business until its closing. Bill had also worked for Narragansett Brewery before retiring from the City of Cranston.
Bill was a member of the local laborers union for the City of Cranston as well as the Elks.
Mr. Riley is survived by his children William P. Riley of Cranston, Kenneth M. Riley of Johnston, Timothy K. Riley of Cranston, Dorothy A. Casey of Woodstock, CT and Patricia A. Riley-Costello of Barrington. There are 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was father of the late James D. Riley and brother of the late Charles Riley, Beverly Rooney, Muriel Chadwick and Virginia Corden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 23, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Please note, social distancing and masks are required, and seating is limited. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Monday March 22, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick.
