Obituary

William “Bill” F. Connors, died with his loving wife and daughter by his side on November 28, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer caused by melanoma.

He was the husband of Rebecca (Plummer) Connors to whom he was married for 27 years.  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William K. and A. Rita (Hetherman) Connors.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Christopher J. Connors, his daughter Erin C. Sintros (Christopher), his stepdaughters Amanda, Elizabeth (Kelly), and Michaela, his brothers Richard (Sheila) and Robert (Rhonda) Connors. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerald (Patricia) and James (Sue). He also leaves his devoted grandchildren Aly, Kate, Will, Tyler, William, Regan, Ethan, Thomas and Callia, his former daughter-in-law Susan Connors and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, class of 1954, LaSalle Academy, class of 1957, and Providence College, class of 1961.  His entire career was spent in public child welfare.  He started as a line worker and retired as the administrator of Child Protective Services at the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families.

Bill was a former member of the Narragansett Terrace Yacht Club and enjoyed racing sailboats in Narragansett Bay. He loved to attend race week in Key West and on Block Island. He had a passion for traveling and cherished his time in sunny Florida at the family condo in Naples. He loved a good game of golf. Bill was an avid New England sports fan and reveled in cheering for the Patriots. He had season tickets to the Providence College Friars basketball games.  Bill enjoyed going to Bradley Café to mingle with his friends and looked forward to their annual trip to Block Island. Newport Creamery in North Kingstown was his favorite place to go for breakfast where his waitress Lori doted on him.

Bill’s family was most important to him, especially time spent with his grandchildren.

We will miss his bright smile.  We will miss his advice and good judgement.  Above all, we will miss his love.
