Skon Semerjian, of Providence, passed away in his 95th year of life on March 12, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Arakelian) Semerjian.
A lively and vibrant spirit, Skon brought music, happiness and laughter everywhere he went. With a true adoration for the songs of his youth, he cultivated an amazing collection of several hundred homemade mixtapes and always had a few in his pocket. Skon loved to spread joy by sharing music from his cassette player, on which he inscribed ‘My Fountain of Youth.’ He also played the harmonica and sang beautifully, all of which made him known to many as Mr. Music.
Born in Watertown, MA, Skon served his country in the Korean War. He founded Standard Offset Printing in Providence and worked side by side with his wife Rose for many years before retiring at 60. He was an avid runner into his 80s and could often be found with his cassette player on the track at Rhode Island College. Skon frequently visited the VA Hospital to sing and play his music for staff & patients, a cherished activity that was enjoyed by all those around him.
He will be forever missed by his children Ron Semerjian and his wife Ruth & Doreen Ahigian and her husband Jim, nephew & nieces, and his 6 grandchildren: Deanna, JJ & Derin Ahigian and Zachary, Zander & Simone Semerjian.
The service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Church would be appreciated.
