Patrick John "Paddy" Lyons 85, a resident of Providence for 17 years and a resident of Warwick for 50 years, co-owner of the Harp & Shamrock in Warwick, passed away January 2, 2021 in Warwick. He was born and raised in County Sligo, Ireland.
Patrick came to America in 1957 sponsored by an uncle. He worked at Grinnell Pipe in Cranston until he married Mary Alice, “Maureen” (O’Gara) Lyons. He retired from Narragansett Electric after working over 30 years.
Affectionately known as Paddy, he devoted his life as caretaker and provider to many family members and friends. He loved to laugh, joke and especially traditional Irish music. He was proud of his Irish heritage, serving as former President of the Ireland's 32 Society and a member of the Rhode Island Ceilidhe Club. He loved his native home of Ireland, traveling there every Easter until his mother passed and many times in his retirement.
He loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Patrick will be remembered as a strong and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
He was the son of the late Frank and Kate (Scanlon) Lyons. He was the father of John Lyons of South Carolina, Thomas Lyons of Pennsylvania, Barbara Lyons-Croker of Warwick, Peter Lyons of Massachusetts, Erin Lyons of County Sligo, Ireland. The proud grandfather of Meghan Croker, Samantha Lyons, William Croker IV, Emily (Lyons) Micucci, Alexandria Lyons, Patrick Lyons, Sean Lavin, Jack Lyons. The proud Great Grandfather of Parker and Greyson Micucci and Allison and William Croker V. Patrick was the brother of the late Mary Jane Hanley, the late Thomas Lyons and survived by Margaret Gallagher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Kevin’s Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited.
