Movena Pope

September 11, 1945 ~ November 28, 2020 (age 75)

Obituary

Movena Pope, 75,  passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Crestwood Nursing Home, Warren.

Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Vince and Macy ( Sowell ) Pope.

Movena was a native of Providence Rhode Island and a resident of Chadbrown for much of her life. She worked several years in the textile industry; she also ran a child day care for many years. Because of her distinctive red hair her close friends called her “Red”, her Very close friends called her “Red Gal”.

Movena enjoyed spending time with her huge family and many friends, furthermore she cherished the time spent for many years getting her hair done by her niece Princess as well as talking about and reading the bible with her nieces Sherry and Drea.

Movena was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her two sons, of which both served in the U.S. Military with distinction.

As a devoted Christian, Movena truly believed the world was her church, her life was a living example of her favorite Scripture, NIV PSALMS 91

It would be wrong to say that Movena lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Movena stayed strong, through her we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Movena. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.

Mrs. Pope leaves her children, Brian Pope and his wife Tammy, Kent Pope, her grandchildren Seven Pope, Jada Pope, Jenna Pope, Jessica Denmark, Kim Pope, Kenna Pope, her great granddaughter Kenzie Denmark, her siblings,  Joseph “ Joe Joe “ Correia, Riley Pope, Linwood " Woody " Jones, Daniel " Danny " Jones, Wendy Burrell, Gloriaia Snell, Marcella Pope.

Movena was sister of the late Vincent “ June “ Pope, Donald Pope, Howard Pope, Walter Pope and Modena Pope.
