Mary L. (Waszeciak) Janson, formerly of Cranston and Warwick, RI.
Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Brookdale West Bay at the remarkable age of 102. First generation American born to John and Louise (Pikula) Waszeciak of Lowell, MA she was ironically conceived during the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918.
Representing early career women, she held a position with New England Telephone (Verizon Communications) for an impressive 38 years. In her retirement she supported the local community for decades as an active volunteer at the Cranston Senior Center. In faith, Mary was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church in Cranston.
She is survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Flynn, Michael J. Janson (Kimberly), Thomas E. Janson (Erin) and Linda B. Ierardi (Jonathan); her great grandchildren Michael R. and Hannah Janson, Audrey and Emily Janson, Luca and Nicholas Ierardi and her daughter-in-law Jean Janson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Janson, her children Joan L. Flynn and Michael K. Janson, and her brother Walter Waszeciak.
Services were private and provided by Russell J. Boyle & Son.
A special thank you to the Clairbridge staff at Brookdale West Bay from the family for the care and support they provided our grandmother the last five years but especially the additional guidance and compassion during her final weeks.
