89, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at West View Nursing and Rehabilitation in West Warwick. He was the husband of the late Alice Hope ( Flanigan ) Powers.

Born in Providence he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Marion G. ( Seymour ) Powers.

Mr. Powers served his country honorable during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service he worked as a lineman for Narragansett Electric for 40 years retiring in 1992.

In his younger years he coached youth baseball, loved to take cruises with his late wife, but most of all, he adored his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Michael J. Powers of VA, Joseph F. Powers, Jr and his wife Linda of Coventry, Timothy J. Powers and his wife Joan of Brookline, NH, Kathleen M. Pafume and her husband James of Warwick, his grandchildren, Leah Woolley and her husband Matt, Marisa Powers, Joshua Powers, Nathan Powers, Zachary Powers, Arianna Pafume, his siblings, Richard Powers of Warwick, James Powers of Cranston, Eugene Powers and his wife Veronica of North Providence and Marion Long and her husband Bernard of Cranston.

Wake service will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 from 8:00-9:30 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am in St. Paul Church, 1789 Broad Street, Cranston. Burial with full military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Rt. 2, Exeter.
