Obituary

John Henry, 78 of Providence passed away suddenly on January 27,2021.

Born in Tavneena, Charlestown, Co. Mayo, Ireland he was the second son of the late Michael T. and Bridget (McLoughlin) Henry.

He was the husband of the late Kathleen T. (Teague) Henry for 51 years.


John is survived by his two daughter’s Cara McCarthy and Maura Medrano both of Providence, his six grandchildren Jason Henry, Caitlin Henry, Colin McCarthy, Jon Henry, Rosa Medrano and Herberth Medrano, Jr. and is great grandchildren Juliana, Kayson, Valentina, Kathleen and a blessing coming in March. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Henry of Orlar, Kilkelly Co. Mayo, his sister’s Catherine Murphy of Coventry, RI and Patricia Henry of London, England. He was pre-deceased by his brother’s James and Dominick A. Henry and his
sister, Mary B. Coen.

John served in the National Guard during the Vietnam era. He was a founding member of The Rhode Island Irish Drama Society and acted in several productions of plays. John loved going back to Mayo to spend time with family, friends and neighbors. He loved being back on the farm helping his father prepare for winter. John was a member of the Irelands’ 32 Society and enjoyed the laughs at each monthly meeting.

He loved golf every Wednesday with his work buddies.

Due to COVID restrictions all funeral arrangements are private at the convenience of the family.
