James K. "Jim" Remington, 81, of North Providence died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Hope Hospice Care of Rhode Island, he was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Meunier) Remington.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Eugene A.C. and Anna (Rushe) Remington, Sr.
Jim served our nation proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. After serving his country he worked as a postman, a painter, and a golf course attendant at Silver Spring and Fairlawn golf courses. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Providence College Friars, and had an unmatched passion for the game of golf that he spread to his entire family. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his compassion towards others and his quick wit.
He was a loving father to his daughter Jacqueline Remington Stewart and her husband Stephen, a devoted grandfather of Nicholas J. Hemond, Esq., Jay Mason Hemond, Sierra Stewart, and Savannah Stewart, and three great grandchildren, Acacia Andrews, Noah Hemond, and Theo Hemond. He was the brother of the late Mary Remington, Eugene Remington, Jr., Andrew Remington, and Frank Remington.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Visitation will be held until 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence, RI 02903. Interment will be private.
