Ann Eliza Smith Logan, 107, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at home, one day before her 108th birthday.
Born February 10, 1913, in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lena (Smith) Shields.
Ann worked as a private duty nurse for various geriatric patients before her retirement. In her spare time she was a dressmaker and hat maker, and loved singing on the radio. She enjoyed doing cosmetology work for her friends and family, and taught modeling and charm school and how to be a lady and business entrepreneur. Ann traveled from North Carolina, to Richmond, VA to Philadelphia, PA, always remaining faithful to her position as an ordained deaconess in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She leaves a son, Forrest E. Logan and his wife Lydia, a daughter, LeMoyne Bethea, twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ann’s funeral will begin on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A going home celebration will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Due to COVID restrictions, burial will be private and immediate family only.
