Alice (Darcy) Hearn, 93, of Cranston, passed away on March 25, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Hearn, Sr.
Born in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, Alice was the daughter of the late Peter and Ellen (Dugan) Darcy.
Emigrating to America as a young woman, Alice settled in Rhode Island.
She was a fixture at the Dunkin Donuts on North Main St. in Providence for over 30 years. Alice was an active participant in Northern Irish Aid supporting the Republic of Ireland. Alice was a longstanding member of the Ceilhe Club along with being the “Sunshine Girl”. In her retirement, Alice had a fondness for poetry and Irish music. She was on a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed attending Rhode Island Reds hockey games and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Alice hosted many-a-card game in good Irish hospitality, good times with loving friends and family.
Alice was the mother of Marie Hearn of Providence, Marion Hearn of Narragansett, John Hearn and his wife Mirenda of Providence, William J. Hearn, Jr. of Cranston, and the late Patricia Hearn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chandler Hearn, Amanda Hemond and her husband Nick, Elliot Hearn and her great grandchildren, Noah and Theo Hemond. Sister of Gertie Brady and the late Mary Cullen, Lucy Grant, Mena McLaughlin, Frank, Sean, Junior, and Denny Darcy.
Visitation Tuesday, March 30th from 9:00 – 10:30 am, in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Raymond Church, 1240 North Main Street, Providence. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
