Aldona A. Kairys, 90, of North Providence passed away Friday at Capitol Ridge in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Matthew J. Kairys.
Born in Mazeikiai, Lithuania, she was the daughter of the late Anicetas and Anastazija (Busmaite) Bauzinskas.
Aldona was a social worker at Rhode Island Hospital for over 25 years before retiring. She was also the administrator at St. Casimir Church on Smith Street in Providence for 20 years until its closing in July of 2017, and was a parishioner for over 50 years.
She enjoyed poetry and was the author of a book of Lithuanian poetry called Detailes. She was devoted to her family, especially her beloved husband Matthew, her children, and grandchildren. She also loved animals.
She leaves a daughter, Dana M. Parente and her husband Tony, two sons, Andrew G. Kairys and his wife Maureen, and Joseph A. Kairys, a sister, Eugenia Rastonis, and seven loving grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Joseph, Paul, Tony, Mackenzie, and Victoria. She was the loving mother of the late Matthew P. Kairys, and sister of the late Joseph Bauzys.
The funeral will be held Thursday, at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
