Phyllis May (Hoxsie) MacDonald-Kenney, 82, of East Greenwich, and formerly of Cranston, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Saint Elizabeth Home. She was the wife of the late John R. Kenney, Esq.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Stena (Munroe) Hoxsie.
Phyllis was a switchboard operator at Roger Williams Hospital and Cranston General hospital for many years. Those who knew her would say she was kind, caring, generous, had a big heart, and always thought of others. Her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were her life. Her legacy was raising six children all on her own.
She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved her cats and dogs. She also enjoyed hosting the holidays at home and loved her home projects.
Phyllis was a 1953 graduate of Hope High School and earned her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from CCRI, later caring for her own mom at home.
She leaves four sons, Richard J. MacDonald and spouse Cheryl, Stephen J. MacDonald, David B. MacDonald and John E. MacDonald and spouse Dawn; two daughters, Deborah J. Ratcliffe and spouse R. Dennis, and Dianne L. Angelone and spouse Albert; four stepsons, Michael Kenney, Edward Kenney and spouse Joanne, James Kenney and Jean, and Thomas Kenney and spouse Andi; a sister, Virginia Ekno and spouse Buddy; seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a sister of the late George A. Hoxsie.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt 117) Warwick to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours Wednesday, 4:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in her memory will be appreciated.
