Mercedes R. Kane (Carlough), died January 9, 2019 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Kane.
Born in Newburg, NY, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Ruth (Charleston) Carlough.
Mercedes worked as a cashier for the VA Canteen for many years. She enjoyed, reading, cooking, and baking.
She leaves three sons, Thomas M. Kane and his wife Mary, Raymond E. Kane and his wife Cheryl, and David W. Kane and his wife Renée , five daughters, Nora E. Hawkins and her husband David, Mercedes R. Kane, Naomi T. Pacifico and her husband Richard, and Nadine R. Kane. She also leaves ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Sara-Jane Peckham, and sister of the late Ruth Marie Capraro.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday January 16 at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in Saint Mary Church, Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory would be appreciated.
