Mary E. “Betty” (Fox) Gonsalves, 89, of Manomet Court, died peacefully at Kent Hospital on Sunday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph R. Gonsalves (Ret. Major PPD)
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James and Ann (Corley) Fox.
Betty worked as an office manager for Louis J. Mazzuchelli, DDS in Cranston for 45 years before retiring. Known for her unwavering faith she was an active volunteer at her home parish of Saint Matthew, and was a kind and generous woman to everyone.
She leaves two sons, William J. Gonsalves (Ret. Sgt. PPD) and his wife Cheryl, and James M. Gonsalves, two daughters, Carol A. Crevier and her husband Paul (Ret. Det. PPD) and Lori Gonsalves, one sister, Josephine Munroe, three grandchildren, Casey, Justin, and Sydney, her daughter in law, Xiamara Gonsalves, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Stephen T. Gonsalves (Ret. Sgt. PPD), sister of the late James Fox, Anna Allien, Kathleen Fox, Theresa McOsker, and Rita Nerney.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 20, at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Rte. 117, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Matthew Church, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm.
