Kazys Navakauskas, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday July 14, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home, East Greenwich. He was the husband of the late Jane Elizabeth ( Hannah ) Navakauskas, they had been married for 65 years.
Born in Berzytes, Raseiniai, Lithuania, he was the son of the late Antanas and Ona ( Braneuskaite ) Navakauskas.
Kazys had lived in Providence, RI for a few years before moving to Coventry, RI. He was a faithful communicant of the former St. Casimir’s Church, Providence, RI where he was a member of the Choir as well as The Knights of Lithuania for many years.
He was a loving father of 7 children, Birute Gilbert, Jennie Gervelis, Maryte Leamy, Kristina Geary, Valerie Sheenan, John Navakauskas and Regina Cournoyer. He was Grandfather to 13 Grandchildren and Great Grandfather to 14 Great Grandchildren. He was the brother of 6 siblings all pre deceased in Lithuania. He was loving father-in-Law to Art “ Gil “ Gilbert, Al Gervelis, Hank Sheenan, Mark Cournoyer, Dan Leamy and Ann Navakauskas.
Kazys dearly loved his homeland of Lithuania and was proud to be an American citizen.
Funeral Service will be Friday July 19, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial after Mass will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Greenwich. Calling hours are from 8:30 to 10:00 am the morning of the funeral.
