John Vincent Roche, 85, of Providence died November 29, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathleen Ann (Mahoney) Roche and the late Anne Josephine (Igoe) Roche.
Born in County Mayo, Ireland, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Katie (Bourke) Roache.
He retired as a welder for Electric Boat in Quonset. He was a member and former trustee and Vice President of the Irish Ceilidhe Club of RI, a member of Ireland’s “32“ Society, and a member of the County Mayo Association of Boston.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Anne Gallen and her husband Paul, Mary Bourke and her husband John, 2 sons, John E. Roche and his wife Margaret ( Doyle ) Roche, James M. Roche and his wife Kristine ( Keates ) Roche, 10 grandchildren Jacqueline Gallen, Finian and Cuileann Bourke, Helen Donegan, Hayley, Holly, Hayden, Harrison, Kassidy and Eden Roche, his sisters, Agnes Nagle, Mary Carolan and Teena O’ Reilly and his dear friends, Kristen Smith and Sandra Jones. He was brother of the late Ted Roache.
John's funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 8:45 from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Monday, from 4 to 8 pm.
