John R. Dwyer

June 4, 2019

John R. Dwyer, "Papa" 76, of North Providence passed away at the Philip Hulitar Hope Hospice Center on June 4, 2019 with his loving family by his side.

He was the loving husband of 43 years to the late Beverly (Giorgio).

He leaves behind a son John J.Dwyer of Warwick, daughters Dianna Degrasse of West Warwick, and Patricia L. Jordan and her husband Arthur, of Cranston, brothers James of Georgia,

Paul his twin of Warwick, a sister Maryellen Naldjian of California, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and his significant other Dorothy Protano of North Smithfield.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James T. Dwyer and Jane B. (Tracy). He also leaves behind his half-brother Jimbo Olsen, and half-sister Lori Penta.

As many of you knew him, he was always the guy who lightened up the party with his funny jokes to get things started, happy all the time.

Enjoyed family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. And of course, let’s not forget his love for DooWop music which he listened to constantly.

He was a huge fan of The New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He played baseball when younger and later in life, played in a senior league.

Always on top of sports headlines.

Knew everything.

At the end of a party or holiday gathering, he always believed in saying “see you later, alligator” or his infamous “10/4” if having a conversation on the phone, never wanting to say “goodbye!”

His funeral will be held Tuesday, 8:30 am at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331  Smith Street, Providence.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at St Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will be in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
