James Thomas Washington, 54, of East Providence, passed away on July 11, 2019, after a long illness., Born in Providence, James was the cherished son of the late James Jr. and Anna Bevinda (Griffin) Washington. He was also preceded in death by his grandmothers’ Nouquina (Tavares) Griffin and Josephine (Webster) Washington, grandfathers Lloyd T Griffin and James Washington Sr., uncles Lloyd Griffin, Samuel Washington, and aunt Marion Johns.
James was a very successful Salesman, employed by several car dealerships, before his retirement due to his illness.
James is survived by his son, SirJames Weaver, and his 5 devoted sisters, Barbara J. Williams, Georgianna Lee, Catherine Washington, Nouquina E. Washington and Joanne Berry Pina. He is also survived by aunts Mary Boddy and Kathleen Souza. Nieces & nephews Kasey, Dena, Deanna, Bryana, Kirby, Taylor, Arondae, Joey, Dante, Domenic, and Damon. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, beginning at 9 am, with a homecoming service to begin at 11 am, in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
