Eileen F. Ferranti, 69, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Paul L. and A. Rita (Gallogly) Dromgoole, Sr. She is survived by her daughter Susan Mary Ferranti-DiMeo and her husband Derek, her siblings, Mary Susan Collamati and her husband Ernest, Rita M. Johnson and her husband Richard, Paul L. Dromgoole, Jr. and his wife Gail, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Eileen was born in Providence, raised in Warwick and spent most of her adult life living in Cranston. She graduated from Pilgrim High School and attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing where she was named “Miss Student Nurse”, graduating in 1971. Eileen spent over forty years as a registered nurse at Kent County Memorial Hospital before retiring and had continued to do part time nursing work with the elderly over the past several years; she touched the hearts of many patients in her care. In semi-retirement Eileen moved to South County to be closer to the beach and daughter.
Eileen was Auntie “Ei” to many. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, god mother, mother in law and friend to many. She had an infectious laugh and personality to match. Eileen loved the beach and spending her summers at Bonnet Shores Beach Club with her family and friends. She loved traveling to Ireland with her family and had a special place in her heart for her dogs, most recently her Louie who she loved taking to the dog park. What she loved most was being with her family surrounded by children, her daughter’s friends (all the “kids” as she referred to them) and particularly loved getting together for the holidays. She loved to reminisce with the stories she was commonly known to tell and often used her own endearing vocabulary and nicknames, which will continue to be used by all those close to her.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, at 10:00 am in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowessett Road, Warwick where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in New Pawtuxet Cemetery, Warwick. Visiting hours Monday 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Joseph School of Nursing, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904 in Eileen's memory would be appreciated.
