David A. Farrell, 85, a longtime resident of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Wednesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Bouchard) Farrell, for the past 59 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Francis and Rubye (Hayes) Farrell, Sr.
David graduated from Saint Raphael Academy and Roger Williams University. He served our nation proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving our country he went on to work for Honeywell as a computer engineer for 43 years before retiring. He was an active Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America during the summer months at Camp Yawgoo for many years, and earned the Eagle Scout Award in his youth as a member of Troop 215 in Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Mark D. Farrell and his wife Marie, of Colchester, CT, Elizabeth Figueiredo and her husband Paul, of Cumberland, RI, and Erin Harvey and her husband Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Francis E. Farrell, Jr.; three sisters, Marie Dempster, Ann Sandberg and her husband Gilbert, and Kathleen Czarnecki and her husband Andrew; and five loving grandchildren, Lauren and Caitlin Farrell, Paige Figueiredo, and Ryan and Morgan Harvey.
The visitation will be on Saturday morning, from 8:15 am to 9:30 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
