David N. Donth, 46, of South Kingstown, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ruth C. (Dupre) Donth for the past twenty-six years and loving father of Dakota D. Donth.
Born in Providence, he was the son of Mildred M. (McCormick) Donth and the late Urban D. Donth.
David served our nation proudly as a Major in the United States Army, serving during the era of the longest continuous combat operations in American history. As the HHC Commander for the RI Medical Detachment, David coordinated all efforts to sustain medical combat readiness for Soldiers throughout Rhode Island. Early in his military career, David specialized in long range reconnaissance, and he graduated from airborne school, earning the coveted Airborn Paratrooper Badge. Additionally, David served the community of Central Falls as a member of the Central Falls Fire Department for 20 years, attaining the rank of Captain.
In addition to his wife, son and mother, he also leaves behind a sister, Kelly A. Godin and her husband, Charles, and two nephews, Alex D. Burniston and Ryan N. Burniston.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117) Warwick. Military honors, and his final radio call will immediately follow.
Visiting hours Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
