A. Helen Donnelly, 91, a long-time resident of Providence passed away on November 4, 2018. Born on March 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Martin E. Donnelly, Sr. and Antonia H. (Viens) Donnelly, and the sister of the late Martin E. Donnelly, Jr. She is survived by her loving sister-in-law, Mary T. Donnelly, and nieces Michaela R. and Maria A. Donnelly.
Helen was a graduate of Boston and Brown Universities. She taught foreign language at Tolman High School in Pawtucket for many years. Helen was a competitive ballroom dancer and an avid supporter of the arts, who loved visiting museums and attending the symphony and theater. She was a docent at the RISD Museum and enjoyed taking classes at Hamilton House. She will be remembered as a loving aunt and sister and a caring and supportive mentor and friend.
A wake will be held at the Boyle Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick on Saturday from 9 am – 1030 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1130 am in Sts. Rose & Clement Church, 111 Long St., Warwick. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in East Greenwich. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Helen’s name to Hamilton House, 276 Angell St., Providence, 02906 or a wildlife charity or local animal shelter of your choice.
