Mary T. Martin, 86, of Invernia Road, died Friday evening at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Martin.

Born and raised in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (McAreavey) McGann.

Mary was a switchboard operator at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Providence, for many years before retiring. She was a graduate of Saint Patrick High School, Providence.

She leaves her daughters, Jean F. Martin, Arlene T. Martin, Shelia A. Long and her husband Chris, son in law, Raymond Plante, and five loving grandchildren, Ryan and Erinn Plante, and Justin, Heather and Claudia Long. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Maureen Plante, a brother, John McGann, Jr. and a sister, Marguerite Shaw.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 10:00 am, in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
