Gracie Elizabeth Upchurch

PROVIDENCE

Gracie E. (Lee) Upchurch, 59, of Providence, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic, in Burlington, MA.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of Rosetta Lee and the late John W. Thrasher. She was the step daughter of the late Oscar W. Morgan.

Gracie worked as a loan processor for Citizens Bank for the past eleven years, retiring due to illness.

She was a member of the Christ Temple Church, in Providence. She was a liturgical dancer with ROC group, and was a member of the praise team, and the woman’s auxiliary.

Gracie was a gentle and kind soul, who was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be missed dearly.

Besides her mother, she leaves her three children, Curtis Lee, Monica Lee, and Vivian Gibbs; her siblings, Marvin Thrasher, Sr., John W. Thrasher, Howard E., Emmett L., Eddie E., and James A. Lee, Shirley A. Bridges, Ida B. Proctor, and Diane Thrasher, George, Walter, and Herbie Morgan; five beloved grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Douglas Samuel, Sr., and sister of the late Robert E. Lee, and Mack I. Thrasher.

A Home Going Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Visiting hours will be 9:00-11:00 am, prior to the service. Interment will follow in North Burial Ground, corner of Branch Avenue and North Main Street, Providence.
