Virginia A. Brodeur, 82, of King Street, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 24, 2012, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Paul C. and Helen A. (Burnham) Farrar, she lived in Warwick most of her life.
Virginia was a dietician for the State of Rhode Island for thirty years, assigned to the Zambarano Hospital, before retiring. She also worked in the same capacity at the Sunny View Nursing Home in Warwick for many years. In addition to her employment, Virginia volunteered at Kent Hospital for over twenty years, and was recently acknowledged with over six thousand hours of volunteer service to the hospital. In her earlier years, she volunteered at Women & Infants Hospital as well. She also enjoyed line dancing at the various senior centers in Warwick, West Warwick, and Cranston.
She leaves a daughter, Cynthia A. Spencer and her husband Walter Spencer; two sons, Paul C. Brodeur and his wife Marie Brodeur and Scott H. Brodeur and his wife Melissa Brodeur; a brother, Norman C. Farrar; twelve loving grandchildren and nine loving great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 am, in the Greenwood Community Presbyterian Church, 805 Main Avenue, Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Warwick. Visiting hours Tuesday, 6 – 8 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick.
